Evidence-Based Practice: NCTSN Position Statement [1]

NCTSN Resource

Resource Description

Illustrates the NCTSN’s commitment to the principle and use of clinical treatments for children and adults who have experienced traumatic events that have undergone the rigor of scientific investigation and are consistent with the ethical responsibilities of clinical practice within the NCTSN. The “Evidence-Based Practice” approach, as defined and described by the NCTSN in this document, is consistent with published statements of several prominent professional organizations and research entities, including the Institute of Medicine, the American Medical Association, the American Psychological Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the National Association of Social Workers. The NCTSN approach is in alignment with these and many other organizations that emphasize the essential scientific value of implementing treatments and other interventions that have been demonstrated to be effective, while also respecting the clinical expertise of practitioners and the individual preferences of clients.
