The UCLA Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Reaction Index is a tool used to assess children and adolescents who have been traumatized. Developed in 1985, the Index has undergone several revisions since its creation. This article describes the elements of the Index, how it is administered and scored, and its properties. It also provides references to studies worldwide that have used the instrument to assess trauma following natural disasters, fires, political, and community violence and accidents, and other traumatic events.
