The University of Texas Health Science Center seeks to fill a Clinical Social Worker position in the Trauma and Grief Center for Youth housed within the Department of Psychiatry. This 40-hour per week appointment primarily involves implementing evidence-based assessment and novel interventions for bereaved youth, ages 7 to 17, including youth who may have a history of other traumas. This person will also be involved in the training and dissemination of these practices nationally as part of a newly established Childhood Bereavement Resource Center (CBRC), a Category II Treatment and Service Adaptation Center of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. The position requires close collaboration with treatment developers to support monitoring of fidelity, refinement of interventions, and participation in the training and supervision of students, staff, and community clinicians from social work and other disciplines.

University Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council of Social Work Education is necessary. Must have current license to practice social work in the State of Texas. Clinical practice concentration and field practicum or recent work experience in health care agency or hospital and some experience in professional social work is necessary. 

Department Qualifications: Qualifications for this position include skills, training, and motivation required to provide direct clinical work in evaluating and treating bereaved and/or traumatized children and adolescents. Applicants should have documented training and/or recent clinical supervision in evidence-based trauma- and/or bereavement-informed interventions. Must have the ability to participate in the education and training of students and staff from social work and other disciplines. Must work well in a multidisciplinary team setting and demonstrate the ability to promote an environment of positivity, collegiality, and good self-care. Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
